WHAT IS NLP
Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) is a therapeutic tool that helps us to understand how we manage our thoughts, feelings and behaviour. It helps us to re-organise these to change unwanted patterns and come up with our desired results.
We are pattern making machines. These patterns, or programmes, can sometimes dominate our actions to the point where we can live and re-live unwanted events or thoughts. Have you ever asked yourself “why does this always happen to me?” or thought “same as always”. These are just two examples of the patterns we create, and we have many that subtly give us (often undesired) direction in our lives.
NLP not only identifies these processes, it offers a wonderful way of changing these habits into more desired behaviours. It is efficient and amazingly simple. There is no need for lengthy, painful and complex interventions. We get to the point and help you to change it if desired. For this reason, NLP is an amazing therapeutic method for shifting many negative and unhealthy beliefs or experiences.
NLP is both an art and a science. It uses the three most significant ‘bits’ affecting our experiences of the world. In fact, it has been called the “user’s manual for your mind". NLP is a collection of creative, thoughtful and interactive methods that help people to understand and change unwanted behaviour, beliefs and patterns.
So what are our three most significant 'bits'?
This is about how we sense and process our thoughts.
These are the language patterns we use to express ourselves.
Refers to the internal 'coding' that we have, and it's influence on our everyday activities.
NLP offers a wonderful way of understanding, accepting and changing your world. It gives you extraordinary insight into the power of your beliefs (both positive and negative!) and suggests ways in which you can put yourself in the driver’s seat of your mind, your future and your aspirations
NLP is an excellent tool for planning goals. A goal is simply a dream with some direction. Whilst the plan stays in your head little is achieved, but with focused attention anything is possible. If you can visualise what you really want, identify the blocks that currently prevent you from achieving this, and work toward removing these blocks, then your dream is achievable.
Contrary to popular belief, many successful people weren’t born with a silver spoon in their mouth, great financial backup, or the luck of the draw… but they did have a vision and a plan on how to get there. Ask Richard Branson who started off his business in a telephone box!
NLP can bring the clarity you need to plan for your dreams and support you to develop steps to achieving them.
